We are delighted to be able to offer visitors the opportunity to walk around Penrose Water Gardens themselves with a guided tour. This is easy to arrange and the tour guide will give a comprehensive guide to all the different plants and wildlife in the ponds and the surrounding areas.
We enjoy living and working in these beautiful surroundings. To see the springtime plants in bloom with their dazzling colours of yellow and blue reflected in the ponds and to hear and see the birds protected and sheltered in the trees is a privilege. The still clear water is the home to the water beetle and dragon fly nymphs. If we stand long enough and look it is surprising what life you can see below the water surface. Our guide also runs the tea shop, and has a wealth of information about the gardens, their wildlife, and pond plants too. If you would like to enjoy this experience, a guided walk can be arranged for you to see what lives and grows here. We regret that we can't allow people to walk around the ponds without a guided tour just yet. |
Wildlife is a real speciality of Penrose Water Gardens - you can see more on the Wildlife pages, but our regular visitors include many beautiful song-birds, kingfishers, herons, foxes and possibly even the local Otter. In early summer dragon and damsel flies and many other varieties of insects are abundant. We are planning a web cam which will be able to show you all the latest wildlife activity from Penrose - check back soon! |
